This was the day after the snow stopped. It took us quite a while to find the skiing.
Chris had spent the best part of three days in the hotel room, so was relieved at the prospect of some skiing. He tried to ski on Tuesday morning, but the wind and blowing snow forced him inside. On Wednesday and Thursday he didn't even try. We did go skating one evening but that wasn't a great deal of compensation. So on Friday morning, we set out to ski.
First, we took the bus to Brunni, but were told that there was nothing open. So we went over to the Titlis lifts, where we found that the Titlis area was completely closed because of avalance danger, but Brunni was open. So, finally we returned to Brunni, where only one lift was open apart from the cable car giving access.
The first run seemed difficult. One groomed run had been cut through the powder but is was very soft and I caught a ski and fell several times.
Chris was the first to try the powder and I followed suit on the following run. We fell quite a lot, but the powder was soft and forgiving. I lost a ski for a couple of minutes at one point, but there was nothing as bad as the person we saw spend about 2 hours looking for one.
I see Pete Smith at one point, executing a stylish face plant and I have several pictures of Chris deep in the snow.
The legs finally gave out just after lunch and we took the long, pretty easy run down to the outskirts of Engelberg where we were able to catch a bus back to the station.A magnificent end to a very mixed week.
